I'm looking to set up a system and I'm not sure what my first step should be. I've been looking at receivers and I like the spec of the Pioneer VSX-909RDS. It seems to be a good receiver, but £830 seems cheap for a THX rated receiver,as all other on the market are £1000 plus.
Also I'm kinda stumped on speakers, is it best to go for a package or separates?

My current set up is a Sony KV28FX20U widescreen TV and a Sony DVP-725 DVD player.

Any pointers would be great. m4rkyboy@hotmail.com

Have you read the review HCC gave for it, can't really go wrong. I have always agreed with there opinions and am happy with any equipment they recommend (I dont have the 909 though).

Are you only after an amplifier/receiver with THX certification? If not, have you considered the Denon 3801, reviewed this month in HCC?
I say this because I bought a Denon and it is fabulous.
