home cinema speaker recommendations pls

I'm building my first HC - and want a set of surround speakers - Ideally I want something pretty small- but sonically good (is there such a thing )???- thought of Bose, but don't really have the cash. Ideally want something under 400 quid. I already have a sub - so only need front, rears and centre.
