    Hi,

I'm trying to hook up my Philips dvd recorder, & my Sky+ box, to my Sony home cinema. However, though i've bought an optical splitter, the dvd player only broadcasts in 5.1 when the Sky box is turned off. When I turn it back on it overides the dvd, & broadcasts the sound from the Sky+ box.

Does anyone know whether there is anyway of getting round this, or whether there is an optical splitter I can buy that can alternate between the two signals, & broadcast only the sound of what i'm watching?

    Many thanks!

    J

    Many thanks for your reply,

The Sony amplifier (HIT-215) only has an optical input, hence i've previously had to buy a coaxial-optical convertor for the DVD recorder/player.

I'm presuming that if I buy an optical switcher this may solve the problem?:
