A friend of mine had the same criteria and is now very happy with his Marantz SR4400. :)

I have just bought the Denon AVR-1705 for £180 (£250 normally) and a pair of Mission M71i's for £60 (£130 normally)

The AVR-1705 is the model down from the award winning AVR-1709, both of which get 5 stars in What Hi-Fi

The 1705 can handle 6.1 surround sound as well.

3 Digital inputs (1 of wich is a digital coax)

    Hope this helps

    Prolfe

    Marantz

I've gone from a SR4200 to a SR5400 recently and wouldn't hesitate to trade up to another Marantz. But get a demo the Marantz sound is appealing to some and not to others, I happen to love it :)

Yeah when anyone has them in stock again, most have been without for about a month. I know cos I tried to get one in silver and gave up in the end and am now very happy with my ex-demo Nad. :)

i'd like to suggest the cambridge audio azur 540r, i think its fantastically musical, and £250 at richer sounds, don't think it has a phono stage, but do any H/C amps have it at this price?

Cambridge Audio 540R, Marantz SR4500 (you if can get the right price) or SR4400. Denon 1905 too but not as good with music I guess..
