Home Cinema Layout Help

Novice Member
Hi there,

New entrant to avforum, and seeking some advice for a home theatre room I am building into a new house.

The dimension constraints I have are:

5.9 metres in length (19 feet 4 inches)

3.8 metres in width (12 feet 5 inches) which can be altered slightly..

I am hoping to fit in 2 rows of 4 cinema recliner chairs.

I am wondering if anyone would have any advice on whether or not the front row would be too close to the screen and what would the preferred screen size be for this setup.

Any advice on layout and options would be greatly appreciated.

Seat placement is a juggling act. Some factors to consider are field of view, bass null location and distance from the rear wall for the second row head position. Around 60% from the front wall avoids the worst nulls. First row head position at around 10'6" from the screen with a 130" diagonal 16:9 will give a 48.4 degree viewing angle. Very immersive but no head movement required. (mask for scope). Second row head position around 15'6" give around a 34 degree viewing angle which isn't too shabby. 3' from the rear wall isn't ideal for sound but it's manageable with the right treatments.
