I am looking to purchase a DVD system with surround sound speakers to connect to either a pioneer or panasonic 42" plasma. Can anybody suggest a good system to buy with a budget of £500. Would quite like it to have DAB if possible but am not too worried.

I would also like it to be a HDMI DVD player if possible.

Actually this is what has just stopped me from buying the denon 500.

Figure that with HDMI just coming around the corner and the possibility of blueray etc now is not the time to spend lots on some kit that in a year or two will be obsolete. So have saved my pennies and gone for the panny 333 as a stop gap

I bought the denon 550 and intend getting hold of a PS3 which will have blueray dvd capability. According to the website although this is a games console it will also be one of the first HD DVD players out, which will mean me using as the main DVD player in future.

    Cheers
