[BTicino/OpenWebNet] New Binding: BTicino / OpenWebNet 2.0 binding ready for testing

Hi,

Is anyone here using this type of home automation in their home? I know its more popular in Europe and elsewhere but some here might interested in discussing the kit, uses experiences etc.

I would like to discuss this topic, share ideas, new kit, help out with issues etc.

My background:
I have BTicino bus system installed throughout my house. This means and I can control from home or away my external louvred blinds (no curtains in my house), all lights, room heating. Most devices are hard wired with 2 wire bus cable but some components are WiFi connected and some are connected to my LAN and WAN via VPN. I can operate the components and scenarios via wall switches, mobile app, web browser, and LCD touch panels.

I have an advanced scenario controller... Boolean state logic is very useful. All lights, shutters and some sockets are addressable. All switches can be configured and reconfigured to send commands to any of these addresses or to the scenario controller. I have about 90 scenarios set up; mostly blind control.

I also have video door entry control, some IR interfaces (used with Harmony remote for movie watching). I have temperature probes in all rooms, external temperature probe, wind, light and rain sensors.

Using the sensors with the scenario controller, boolean logic and the various timers (sunset, sunrise for geo location) allows me to create some 'useful' automation.

e.g.
Blinds: use of the sun energy for room heating (large south facing windows), early morning wake up, evening blind closure, prevention of over heating, storm protection (blinds are external), at home simulation, sun illumination control, all blinds up, down scenes, different scenarios for guests present, time of year, patio in use etc etc
Lights: Mood scenes, movie scenes, all lights off, welcome home lights, security lights, at home simulation, guest present etc etc
Sockets: Water pump control (I store rainwater for the garden watering), lighting control, timers etc
Other: garage door control, main house door lock, alarm state, sensor state

I also have various IP cameras and cloud based sensors for monitoring and phone/email alerts.

I hope this of interest to some on here and we can share experiences and ideas. eg I am interested in combining other home automation things with the bus... eg cloud based IFTT, Conrad Connect and others
Conrad Connect is quite new and I am a tester. Check here if you want to take a look:
Your Home for Smart Devices • Conrad Connect IoT

Mark.

Note to mods: Just in case your are wondering why new members are joining to view this thread... Due to my and others dissatisfaction with the official BTicino, Legrand forum I redirected forum members here. I hope that's OK.

Phew .... I thought I'd been the only one here who with a BUS wired house. I wanted someplace to chat about MyHome and its uses. Lets see if anyone else turns up. I think this forum section would be a good place to chat. Have we met before on the BTicino site ?

While you are here ;) can the 300x Classe touch panel set up be accessed via MyHome suite? When I try MyHome suite crashes. I posted such at BTicino. I see the Classe 300x IP on my LAN but only port 111 is open.

Also, is it possible to use the MyHome screen 10 panel as a gateway and can I access anything with a browser? When I try I just get a help page.. no settings, or screens? I currently use MH202 scenario controller as a gateway. I should do a port scan

I ask because I would like to see the status of some basic contact interfaces I have (weather station). I see them on the screen 10 panel but wanted a way to remotely (via VPN) check the contact statuses somehow. I have the atMyHome app on my phone but I do not see how I can add contact interfaces to it.

am "sxpertle" there
looks like you need to use the usb port in the back to configure the 300x with MHS
I can't try at the moment, but will do as soon as I get close to a screen 10

300x ... thought so but not tried yet. It seems my installer left in default condition and it all worked as is. Door bell camera unit, screen 10, and 300x all seem to work together with door video and door lock release working on all,,,,,,but when I check all the PP MM and NN settings/configurators I find that they are 0/empty.

He did tell me that the 300x would not work as intercom with the screen 10 but I found it does.

sxpertle vs sxpert ... guessed that too

Try screen 10? As gateway or access over network? Thanks by the way for the support. now and in the past.

... long ramble ahead!!!

It would be worth pointing a few more BTicino guys to this thread or it will die. ;) I know there are few wanting to chat and compare notes about stuff

I hope this thread doesn't die because I think there is/was a good community spirit amongst the users to tap into and sadly not much user experience information in English available. There was always the problem that there was no decent friendly place to talk. I hope we can fix that here and BTcino might win a few more customers if people gain confidence from our discussions. It was one of my worries when I chose BTicino gear.... lack of user support, forum discussions, puts people off discovering the advantages of something unfamiliar like a BUS system. I think UK based guys will not know much at all about these sort of options that we discuss. But maybe they would like to know more

However, after taking the brave pill, I seemed to have got it going quite well without too much stress with a bit of help from guys like you. Thanks again. My house seems almost alive :D and some times a bit crazy... which is usually my faulty logic.

Installers have no patience for fiddlers and fine tuners like me; and in some areas I think I know more than he does from fiddling :)

For future I would like to play around connecting cloud based IoT stuff to the BUS side, Alexa etc etc. , RPi and Ardunio too and see what they can bring. RPi VPN has been great way to access my LAN side, and I did briefly try Grasshopper image on a Rpi too. I have Rpi IP cameras showing on my screen 10.. but doesn't keep my login details in memory so there is some work to do there.

Why is the screen 10 browser permanently 'experimental' There's been no update for 1 year that I can see.

Enough

Super :hiya:

I hope a few more join us. I am not a programmer but don't mind having a dabble if I have too. Most of the time I only a just a little bit better that totally clueless... hence lots of questions to ask.

aaah, grasshopper was my first way to implement the raspi, too. working very stable and fast, but unfortunately only lights and shutters to control with it. because of that i changed to openhab. more to control (scens, thermoregulation, email-notification) but even more complex. biggest problem at the moment: works after restart of raspi for 1-10 hours and then stops monitoring bus-traffic. perhaps i´ll have to try new installation...

Hello, I am hleopoldseder on myopen. I also have a bticino installation in my house (F454, MH202, F420, MH4893C). I'm using the imyhome app to control my installation from remote. At the moment i am trying to get all my automations (heating, robo mower, photovoltaik etc.) work together wit openHAB. I'd be glad, if someone of you has openHAB experience, to discuss and exchange knowledge.

Hi, I would also like to know more about openHAB

hm, ok, i have installed openhab and it runs - a little :)
don´t know why it stops monitoring bus-traffic, the binding is designed for openhab 1.X and i installed the new version 2.0 but i have read that it should work under 2.0
i installed noobs, perhaps should try openhabianpi - don´t have experience with linux ...
what works when it works:
- can see status of lights and toggle lights on/off
- can log temperature (bticino-room-sensors as well as external temp-sensors ds18b20 on the onewire-bus of raspi) in nice charts realised with influxdb)
- can control shutters
- can connect via web-browser and openhab-app on iphone
i also would like to do more with openhab but difficult for me because the openhab-community is very professional and hard for me to understand. so i wasted much time with trial and error to get to this point :)

I've installed the binding on OPENHABIAN with openHAB 2.2.0 Build #975. It runs without problems. Perhabs you should try it under OPENHABIAN? I've noticed one restriction in conjunction with addresses greater than 9 (also posted on myopen forum, but no responses until now):

It seems that it is not possible, to use virtual configured actors as items in the openHAB binding with PL addresses greater than 9 (for example: A/PL: 8.10)?

bticino.items (example):

Switch Frost “Sensor Frost” (Wettersensorik) {bticino=”if=webserver;who=1;what=0;where=810″}

This item is not updated in openHAB. Do you have any ideas how to solve this problem (without givig new adresses to the actors)?

did you already try:
where=0810
as far as i know if pl has two digits, a has to have two digits, too
... but did not try it ...

stop only means that the execution will be aborted just on the position it is.
for example
- if you have a "light on" in "action" -> nothing will happen because light was switched on and the action is finished
- if you have a "light on" in first line, "delay 10sec" in second line, and "light off" in third line, and you stop your action while the 10sec pause are waited, then the light will stay on because the last line will not be executed
perhaps try: put wind sensor in start and stop condition, so scenario will be restartet every time the wind blows. put in action a delay with 1hour and in second line your blinds.
so if the wind blows in less than one hour the scenario will be startet again and nothing happens. if it doenst blow for longer than one hour the scenario will activate your blinds.
but you will have to enable / disable the scenario, otherwise your blinds will always be activated 1 hour after the last wind...

I thought I had deleted my post before anyone read it but too late. :D I had already written a scenario for the wind sensor similar to your suggestion. I tried to test it but I think I managed to confuse myself and doubted my understanding. So, I deleted my post and set up a simpler test and I find its just as you say. Stop aborts the whole action list and so my wind protection scenario should work.

I am using a boolean, run=true, to activate/deactive the blind scenarios. If run=true then the blind scenarios will move the blinds into position depending on time of day, internal temperature, sunshine, patio in use etc.

The wind sensor scenarios sets run=false, forces all blinds up with group command. All other blinds scenarios begin only if run=true condition.

1 year earlier all my blinds were wrecked from high winds and golf ball sized hail stones. I tried to save them but I was too late becasue the power failed in the area by the time I realised it was a very bad one  So, now I am paranoid.

Thanks for the quick response :D

great, i also have a scenario for my blinds: they have to close if sun is shining and temperature inside rises to high...
yesterday i did a clean install of openhabian. very sad to see i have the same problem as bevore: monitoring of bticino-bus stops after short time and i don´t know why.
tried with different gateways, mh200n and f454, seems with f454 is working a bit longer but never longer than some hours :(

My installers gave me an example project file for MH202 for scenarios and weather sensors. I loaded it into Myhome and will check it out and compare it with what I have done. I could provide a dropbox link via PM if anyone is interested.

sure, however, I believe we should come up with our own community and forum site, which would allow to have more than just a thread ;-)

could you give a try to myhomepy ? I made it pretty reliable...
note: currently working on adding python 3.6 compatibility, so you may need to take an older version ;-)

In the meantime you could create another thread here. There is no need to stick to just this thread. It was just a quick and easy way to point to an alternative place to keep the discussions going and maintain contact with the more helpful BTicino forum members. The BTicino site has become a poor place for the community IMHO. eg Lack of PM facility .

I haven't the time to create a dedicated forum myself and there may not be enough interest to warrant the effort. Lets see how it goes.

I thought that if discussions here prove to be a popular alternative to the BTicino site and the mods here welcome us then maybe we would in time get our own dedicated section. Or if its popular posting here but the mods do not like us being here then someone(?) would create our own dedicated forum having seen from posts here that there is strong demand.

Of course there could be little interest from the community in posting here, or even elsewhere, and it will then die a natural death.

Hi, bastler,

today I had the same issue: bus monitoring stopped (for the first time, after aprox. 3 weeks of use), so status in openHAB didn't get updated anymore.

After the restart of my Pi, everything worked again.
I also posted this on legrand forum.

Hi,

I am trying to use and actuator to indicate the state of a boolean with :

Start boolean 1 =true >>> Action Light 14 on
Start boolean 1 =false >>> Action Light 14 off

Is there a way to stop the actuator it responding from a general all lights off command?

First of all. Hi Everybody. I am also here from bticino forum. Same nickname :)

I hope everone is fine.

Mark, i would be interested in the example project file for mh202, if you could share it, it would be great. I am also not sure, if you already had the possibility to post about your schalk sensors? I think i also might have overread it ;)

My settings are still the same since beginning of 2017, but now i need to increase the functionalities due to weather (wind, temperature, etc.)

Just PM me and I will send a Dropbox link. Then you need to add another MH202 into your project and then right click on the new MH202 icon and select import project. This avoids overwriting your existing project!! I have a BTicino explanation which I scan and send too.

I checked what was in there and its quite simple... you could probably do better yourself :)

I did write a lot above but if want to know more I will post more... no problem :) My rain sensor is permanently On now.. Probably becasue the installer removed the protective plastic and shouldn't have. I await a replacement.

Question........... also the same in my last post.
I am using a boolean to allow blind scenarios to run or not.. A master override of sorts. I added it as 'only if' condition and a 'stop' event to all blind scenarios that can directly move the blinds. It's not only useful for safety reasons when working on the blinds but my Wind sensor scenario uses it to stop the blinds being moved by other scenarios when there are high winds.

To display the status of this boolean I am using a spare actuator which is triggered on or off depending on the boolean state.. 1 (run)=true or false.

My problem is that the actuator can also be turned on and off with the Gen command. I think I can prevent that by setting the actuator to master pulse. But is this the best way??

Another question... I am setting up the MyHome screen 10 panel... Any tips for setting it up?

Can the displayed room and floor order be changed? The display seems to show them in the order I add them.

I notice that some settings are done via MyHomeSuite and others are done directly on the panel eg card picture.

Also, the browser always shows 'Experimental' in the top right corner and when browsing not only is it slow but there are frequent warning messages about 'untrusted SSL connection'.... in other words the browser is a big disappointment and almost useless.

I also never used the browser butnoticed that same settings are better to be done on the panel. I also displayed my internal temperature sensor on the panel.

hi mark, sorry for not answering so long, my openhab drives me crazy!
i also use the 10" myhomescreen. but never used the webbrowser for the same reasons that you noticed already. i also had to change the card-pics direct on the panel, and didn´t find out how to sort the rooms order.
nice weekend to all! stefan
