    After some advice, :thumbsdow

Have a 4 bed home that’s being taken back to the studs, ceilings down etc. Need advice on where to start with the following setup.

    • Home Audio System, not got a clue where to start and what I need.

    • Front room looking to have a 5.1.2 Atmos setup, therefore could I also use the 2 ceiling speakers for the home audio?

    • Sky Q will be fitted with 2 extra Mini boxes, therefore do I need to think about TV & Audio setup around the house.

    • What Cat Cable should I run for the Internet.

Will be using Van Damme speaker cable as used before, Also will run WF100 cable for Sky and TV Aerials.

Any help & advice would be great as have a lot I wish to do at the house.

    :D

    Hi Bionic Man,

Just use a good quality speaker cable and I would reccomend that it is CPR compliant as well as the Cat cable. I would reccomend running Cat6.

Also make sure you install fire rated speaker hoods where require.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you require any advice.

    Best regards

    Thanks for the reply,

Looking to cable via Van Damme?
    Cat7 would be overkill?
Looking multi room system, Kitchen / Dinning Room, Living Room, Bedrooms, Main Bathroom.
Speaker for setup would be ceiling speakers, what system would be best and how to wire & connect up?

Been looking but not sure where to start :)

We use a good quality pro install 2 core speaker cable.

You can use Cat7 but we stick with Cat6 or Cat6a

For multiroom installations we use Control4 as the control system, Triad audio matrices, AudioControl multichannel power amps.

Speaker wise we often install Origin Acoustics as they sound great and available at various price points.

'Home Audio System, not got a clue where to start and what I need.' - plan around the User(s), what do you/they want to access, how many simultaneous Users, how do you want to control the system and is it 'just' for Music playback?

'Front room looking to have a 5.1.2 Atmos setup, therefore could I also use the 2 ceiling speakers for the home audio?' - not without a lot of unnecessary complexity, better to ether include the installed AV system in the multi-zone music system or add an additional set of speakers.

    Hi there,

From what I'm reading it's best to go for a 5.1.4 Atmos setup for the home audio system. So will that route.

Will run Cat6a around the house and WF100 cable for Sky Q etc.

The Audio system, I/e Music around the house what would you recommend Joe ?

Multi-Zone Audio - how do you want to control the system, how many users, which devices and which services will you want to listen to?

CAT cable - we install Black-Box GigaTrue 550Mhz CAT6 on all of our installs, EYN864A-PB-1000, GigaTrue® CAT6 bulk cable UTP 550MHz solid PVC - Black Box

Speaker cable - we use and supply the VanDamme Blue Series cables.

SKY Q - only the Main box requires a connection to the Dish (which SKY will usually supply unless you have an unusual install), the Mini box's are Wi-Fi or hard-wired to your network.

Sky Q, will install own cables prior to install. Will use WF100. Will run Cat cable to hard wire mini’s

Home audio multi system: tablet or walled mounted. Myself n wife users, not sure when it comes to what devices / services

'most say install Cat6a' - How long are you cables runs and who is going to be terminating the cables?

Have yet to run into any issues with the cable linked to earlier for IP, HDBT or Video over IP.
