so i just read this is oculus touch and gamepad / KB/M only. They could not get it to work properly with the Vive wands..... Fingers crossed they will patch in knuckles controls when they launch (that is assuming knuckles dont natively support touch controls, which hopefully they will)

Steam isn't showing Touch support either.

STEAM VR Support: This VR game requires the use of a gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.

This game is a pass for me I just don't see the point of third person in VR although it does look well polished.

i have seen a few people say that. Your choice of course but i just do not see how that game could possibly translate well to 1st person.

still different strokes and all that. Personally i want to see more third person VR games. It would be dull as dishwater if we all liked the same stuff.

things I love about it. (in principle, i have not played it yet)

it wants a GTX 1080..... I want to see what VR can really be like if you say to hell with it and throw the kitchen sink at it hardware wise. my soon to be 1180 will do nicely.

It sounds like it will be pretty disturbing in VR... in the mind of someone losing their sanity, what is not to like?

regarding touch.... its no biggie as they are supported in pad mode. mildly more immersive for sure, but we are not talking full arm tracking or anything so its no loss really so long as you have a pad..

things i do not fancy... nothing really. I must buy it, simple as that.

I just don't see the point of having the character in front of you obscuring your view. Shame there's no option to go first person if they eventually support hand controllers.

I sort of agree, but at the same time I can see why this kind of game wouldn't really work in the first person. That jumping and fancy fighting footwork won't translate to existing VR controls very well. You'd certainly need wireless and a few extra trackers to do it properly. And a lot of yoga.

Third person games work VERY well in VR. Platform games such as Lucky's Tale, Chronos, Edge Of Nowhere and Moss are some of the best VR games available imo, although most of those are exclusive to the Oculus Store so perhaps Atmos hasn't played them..?

I agree 3rd person games in VR if done well are fantastic, but not everyone agrees, opinions and assholes and all that, lets leave it at that :)

It's okay, he has me on ignore. I just posted that so that people can understand that it's unlikely he's played those games and in doing so is unaware of just how good third person games are in VR.

You'd be surprized how good it can be. Edge of nowhere is a good example. I have a friend who is super sensitive with motion sickness and she was better off with the type of view point.

I've tried Luckeys Tale but it never appealed too me. FPS are my one true love but I could play Command and Conquer style games in VR.

You're really missing out by not playing the likes of Edge Of Nowhere and Chronos. Third person action adventure games work surprisingly well. You're really missing out if you don't at least give third person games a try.

The best thing about VR is that you'll find yourself liking games that you wouldn't normally give the time of day if you were playing them flat.

You should give it a go Mike. It has the best intro I've seen so far in a VR game and the combat really is top notch.

If my broken leg didn't make it uncomfortable for me to sit up for more than half an hour or so I'd easily put in a few hours at a time playing this without a problem.

I've always liked third person action adventure games and in VR they're just crazy good.

well looking at above i bought hellblade on 1st august last year... and i finally played it tonigh. Wow! is all i can say i was convinced before that 3rd person games were a good fit for vr (after loving edge of nowhere) but this blows it out of the water and then some. its beautiful and the atmosphere is superb. I kept expecting one of the corpses in the boat ride at the start to look at me!
only 1 negative so far. the 1st 10 mins of the game is all passive. and what an introduction that would be for VR noobs.. however i cant show it to anyone as to do so would wipe my save. a spare slot would have been nice.

Yup, it's one of my favourite VR games so far. Not enough enemy variety was also a negative point for me but it really is awesome.

I think I'm going to play it again with my Rift S at some point because with the improved display and optics it should look even more stunning. :D

i have stopped doing it now as was getting silly but upuntil 6 months ago i used to buy any remotely decent looking VR game to support the developers even though i was not ready to play it yet.

i had to stop as i have games years old which i have never looked at and whilst i am not exactly broke, i dont have the cash to just throw away, even if it is in a good cause of supporting VR.

Yeah, I've cut down on my Steam spending in the last few months for this reason. Too many unplayed games sitting on the pile...

Just heads up hellblade in this month's humble monthly. Great game and worth a look if you have not already. The VR support is the icing on the cake
