While waiting for the train this morning, I popped into the local library (WH Smiths  ) and saw the new PCZone, they had a 12 page review of HL2.

I didn't get to read all the review, but basically the reviewer listed it as the best action game ever on PC if not the best game ever made. The final score was 97%, highlights of the review indicate that the game surpasses all production quality we have seen so far in games, that the game plays like an 18 hour action movie in which you are the star.

The weapons looks really interesting, the reviewer even commented that the first 30mins you don't have a weapon, but he didn't care as the environment is so cool you have just as much fun exploring it.

The only downside I gleaned in my quick browse (and the major component I was looking for) is that the human marine AI is not the stepforward like HL was. The seem to suffer from the usual gung-ho or indifference to colleagues deaths that hinders a lot of games.

Apart from the that the review really makes HL2 look like it will live up to the hype, I am looking forward to it :)

I've read that review - it sounds fantastic.

Now all we need is for the game to be released. :lease:
