Been to the local retailer to listen to HK 5550 setup against Denon3803 - got the urge to get the HK 5550 but having a mare trying to find suppliers - only found one cheapest at 749.

Are there any other suppliers of HK - maybe do a package with speakers and cables etc. Get Infinity now instead of Kef after listening to them

    Anyone ??? Thanks

scollops where did you demo? HK arent big on mail order and you will pay as much on net as in store. So do you like the Oreus HK combo better than the denon egg setup?

Try Sevenoaks. I got my HK from their Leicester branch. I don't think there are great discounts to be had though.

Well must say I tried the Denon and Kef steup, my first choice. Sounded pretty good for cinema, but seemed better on the music side. Speakers sounded good although, something missing didnt have a punchyness to it - could of been the amp though.

The HK seemed to be the reverse of the Denon - cinema was really good, speakers were just as good as before.

Slapped on the Infinity's. Must say they were really good, easily handled the music, cinema - sounded brighter and sharper than the Kef. Then again I was told that Amp's and speakers normally have to be broken in for a good few days to get the benefits.

As I was looking mainly for Cinema sounds rather than CD music, I favoured the HK and Infintiy Speakers (thanks Hornydragon) for the alternate choice of speakers.

Just gotta dig deep and put my orders in.

I would definately recommend getting a demo and listening to your proposed setup if you can - makes things alot easier (except paying that is).

So not many HK suppliers then - hmm Infinity ???

Thanks again everyone for the sound advice.

harman/kardon and infinity belong to the same group - Harman International (along with JBL, Lexicon and a few others). So, theoretically anyone distributing Infinity speakers, or JBL should be able to get a hold on h/k amps?

Just bought an HK 5550 for £699 from sevenoaks (Tunbridge Wells). I was expecting to pay the £850 as advertised, but at the till I was told it was now £699. :smashin:
Apparently they are clearing stock for the new range - due in a month or two?
