Ok,sorry if this has been gone over before but I have had a scout about, and no threads really shove me to 1 player or the other.

I am looking for a dvd player to connect to my Z2 Pj and I think it is going to be between the Harman Kardon DVD2550 and the samsung 935.

From what I can gather the benefits of the Samsung are obviously the price and dvi but I am concerened that the audio will not be up to scratch. The HK has had excellent reviews for both its pq and audio but connecting with that player would involve me swapping the component cables with my xbox each time I wanted to use the other.

Has anyone had any first hand experience with both these players?(bit of a long shot I know)I think one of these players is the 1 for the job,but I just need a shove in the right direction

btw,if anyone has any alternative suggestions, they would be welcome too,but my price range is pretty limited atm:rolleyes:

    Cheers,
    JB

Cheers m8,I remember reading that thread,Il have another look now.I remember wondering if there would be any degredation in the pq but hopefully it wont be an issue.

Is this you way of reccomending the Hk?Would the pq of the Samsung via dvi be comparable to the Hk via component or is the HK superior in every dept?

    Aaaarrrghhh,I hate making deciscions:rotfl:

Thanks m8,you are definately giving me the gentle nudges towards the HK that I need but after looking into the component switcher box that I would probably need it seems they are a bit thin on the ground in the UK and I might be looking at about £100 which is an expense I could really do without:rolleyes:

The HK definately seems to win hands down in every dept,if I had a way to connect it via component without all the disconnecting of my xbox malarkey Id get the order in today.

Time to get to work with google searching for component switching boxes me thinks ;)

Why not just connect your xbox through vga?
    http://www.x2vga.com/

U get full component display through that, still alowing your normal component inputs free for your dvd player at the same time.

This is what i think i will do when i get my AE500 PJ.

Hmm,I really dont know what to do:suicide:

A new amp is out of the question as my Marantz is less than a month old, unfortunately it didnt even cross my mind at the time to check for component switching:nono:

I cant really afford to fork out about 200 quid just for a switching box and it doesnt seem right spending over 100 quid on cables then using a 10 quid box from Maplins, surely theres gonna be some loss of quality:confused:

I think I may just go for something like this:
    http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/codesearch.pl?SVS14

either way,Im gonna have to fork out for another set of cables and Im not convinced that there isnt gonna be any signal degradation unless I go for 1 of the high end efforts:suicide:

Buy the 935 and go via DVI

When you encounter a disk that has to much noise turn off progressive scan and lower the sharpness of the Z2
