    Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else thought the sound quality on hitman extreme edition was a bit iffy?

It's easiest to notice on the end credit music - its almost like someone is fiddling with an equaliser / volume. I only use the speakers in my tv, but all the way trough I noticed that the sound was a bit odd.

just wondering if anybody with a decent sound system found it odd?

    Thanks

I thought it had a rather good DTS track, reviews have said it was abit bland, but nothing wrong with it, and the gunfight made good use of the rears.

Might be an issue of taking a DTS-MA and making it 2.0.

I assume it was using the PS3 you have in your sig.

sorry, yup should have said i was playing it on my ps3 using my (cheapo) dgm tv.

I really enjoyed the movie but found the sound quality a bit...wooden?? Not the acting ;) but the sound quality. It's weired, maybe mine is a duff disc as other films are fine..is that possible?

I would suggest that its your 'cheapo' tv speakers that are struggling with such a powerful soundtrack.
I watched this on Saturday evening, albeit through a pretty high level sound system, and the sound was absolutely awesome - in fact, some of the loudest and deepest sound I have encountered from any soundtrack before.
It may well be that your tv speakers couldn't take it.

I wouldn't say a defective disc is impossible, but it isn't likely a defective disc would just cause the sound to be wooden, more likely it would be heavily distorted or just no sound.

It could be the different soundtracks on the disc, I am not sure if it had a seperate 2.0 channel, or whether it only had the MA which was down-mixed.

As I said, 5.1 from the PS3 was fine for me, definately didn't sound like the mix was out.

As philbam has said, at points it had alot of bass, and that is generally the thing that is "cheaped out" on.

right, that makes sense. There was deffinate distortion, so thats reassuring that it is my cheapo speakers .. any excuse to look at a decent speaker system :D

Not that I have any money!! Thanks for the info guys

Sound is a good 50% of the Home Cinema experience, nothing like watching a film with a good 5.1 or more track. I also really notice when a soundtrack is lacking, and it does make a film more bland.

I am trying to resist the urge to get an HD audio system, around £1k is just too much for a good HD audio decoder, and 8 good speakers.

I would give 8/10 for PQ and 8.75/10 for SQ. The Ave Maria soundtrack is just awesome.

I would say that is about right. The official review on AVS rated it lower, but I felt they were being mean, especially when you look at some of the reference titles they list:eek:

Hitman is rated Tier-2 for PQ and Tier-0 for SQ which is perfectly acceptable. Initially the PQ was rated way too low but was moved up certain spots after detailed assessment and upon request.

Must have been another review complaining about the sound. One review I saw complained about the sound, I thought it was AVS.
