Use a dvd player with componant out, you may not need a progressive scan player as the pjtx10 has its own de-interlacer.
For sky/freeview try at least using s-video.
email www.tmfsolutions.co.uk for a quote on componant and s-video cables, they use vanne damme which I use and seem pretty good.
I payed approx £45 for 10 metres of componant cable.
As for screens, if you want portable you could go for a pull up screen which comes with its own case, not sure who sells these though.

the dvd player has got s-video, so i presume the connection would be s-video to s-video? would this be the best way for picture quality?

    thanks

That would be ok for starters, but you are best looking at getting a componant dvd player to get somewhere near the the best out of a projector.
I started of with s-video to my projector which was ok, but found a large jump in picture quality when I upgraded to componant out.

Have a read of the projector faq at the top of the lcd page.
Componant cables are phono to phono.
There's a second hand set of componant leads for sale on this forum.
