    Hi

Am I correct in saying the Hitachi 42" panel used in the 42PMA400E in in fact Fujitsu glass? If so is this the same glass used in the Hitachi CL-42PD3000E (tuner+speaker package) I would assume that these two Hitachi panels produce the same picture quality then?

Anyone got either of these panels? Any comments or opions would be greatly appreciated! Or anyone seen these to models side by side. As ive narrowed my choice down to these two panels.

My local Power House is offering the CL-42PD3000E for £3500 (which includes the stand + tuner box) which seems like a good price. And another 2 years warrenty for £600. Unless anyone knows better?

One last thing does £3000 for the 42PMA400E sound about right or is it available cheaper? And how much is a table top stand for this screen?

Thanks for you help people!

I have ordered my 42 400e form unbeatable for under £2500 for screen and wall bracket, I have seen both screens together and this screen had the edge over the tuner box screen, the 42 400e has a different filter thats all this just gives you better black.
I saw this both Hitachis and the panasonic and Pioneer together playing the same dvd and the Hitachi looked the best to me the Pioneer was very good also on Sky i thought both the Hitachi and the Pioneer to be as good but the Pioneer is £3700 with silent fans and the Hitachi is a thousand pounds cheaper but with a slight fan noise, which didn't bother me I have a fish tank louder than this screen.
anyway if you live in the south go to Nexnix in Horsham and check out all the screens, and make your own opinion.

    Thanks for the feedback Leigh.

I thought the same when compairing the Hitachi's to other panels, it looks great! £2500 for the 42 400e and bracket sounds great ill look into it. Cannot help thinking though the tuner box could be very usefull though!

Unbeatable are listing it at £2843 for the 400e now!

Yeah couldn't believe the price but just checked the web site and it has gone up but Unbeatable seam to be changing the price on this screen daily also it looks like they are always competing with PRC directs prices.

My Video and my Sky box when you use RGb composite sync you use the composite input which syncs the screen this also means you get sky in rgb then press a button you get sky in composite and the also can view your video.

A local dealer is going to do me the 3000e for £3000 so i think im going for it this weekend! Just the thought of handing over that sort of cash for a tv is scary!?! Just going to Sheffield to have a play around with the 3000e, just to make sure.

Note: Home Cinema Choice mention the 3000E does NOT have HDTV support (i take it that's various forms of prog. scan). The model with the speakers/tunerbox/swivelsupport removed - i.e. 42PMA400E - does have prog. support.

Sort of correct. The 3000e supports progressive scan through the media/tuner box. the 400e has a video card attached to the panel that does the prog scan. All in all, the result is the same, just a different way of doing it. In the end, if you're going to watch television at all through the panel, get the 3000e as it makes life so much easier. I bought the 400e and returned it for the 3000e, paying the £325 difference.

As for my opinion. I prefer the 3000e because of the tuner box and that it does not have a fan. However, the 400e was slightly better at producing pure black bars on 4/3 broadcasts. unnoticeable on the picture, just at the sides.

    Hi Poggs

Did you just stick with the 1yr warranty or did you extend??

The 3000e is a great panel! I spent nearly an hour with various differant DVD's trying to pick up some sort of short cummings with it and failed. This is the sceen for me aswell, just trying to decide what to do warrenty wise??

The 3 year warranty was £999! I just couldn't believe it.

Anyway, screenburn was exempt from the warranty and as it has a 2 year EU warranty as standard, I didn't think an extra 3 year was worth it.

I have now decided to go with the Hitachi 3000e.
Does anyone know if this screen can be mounted on the wall without the speakers, and if so I assume you get the cable to connect the tuner box to the screen. Can anyone tell me the length of this cable. i.e. will it reach from the tuner box on the floor to the screen mounted above the fire place.

If you're thinking about the 42 in, the tv can be wall mounted without the speakers. The supplied cables are pretty long, so that shouldn't post any problems if it is not too far up on the wall.

    Thanks Joel,

It is the 42" I was thinking about.
Doyou have one of these? What do you think about it?
By "cables" does this mean just the one cable from the media box to the screen?

As from the 1st of April 2003 all electrical goods sold within the EU must come with a 2 year warranty. No if's, buts, or cop outs. Dixons etc are currently refusing to acknowledge the existance of this law. But, it does exist. I spoke with trading standards and they are spoiling for a fight come next april

I did question the manager of my local currys and he said that he had heard about this but it was up to the manufacturer to honour the second year. This is pants and a lie according to trading standards as the contract is with the supplier not the company.
