Hitachi, Illumina 43" repair help.

    Hi, I bought an Hitachi, 43 rear projector with auto convergence in Oct 2001 all went well, fantastic pic quality as was promised from those who had one on the forums. (forgot my password, re-registered) About 3 months ago, it packed in on us completely without warning. The "help" I received when I phoned Hitachi was no more than suggesting some repairmen, after four phone calls!! I was given so many false lead phonenumbers, one chap was so uninterested in my call he yawned down the phone! I could have looked them up myself in yellow pages, it is an expensive specialist television & therefore I expected to be given the number of someone who knew what they were doing. I was given the number of an Hitachi approved (Hitachi approved I take to represent Hitachi) repairman fairly local, he said he was currently busy but would ring to arrange a convenient time to come & assess the repair.....he arrived unannounced 8:20 am on a Friday morning!
    He opened the back, huffed & puffed looked way out of his depth but waffled on about how Hitachi cared about their customers & that he would contact Hitachi & get the required parts & fix the set. "I will ring next week after contacting Hitachi" yes,..right,..after about 10 days I phoned & he said he had the parts, & would come by & fix it at the end of the week, I had to persue him again to see what was going on, "I'll ring you in the next few days". Never heard from him since, he came ,...he saw,.....he ran away...! I had no extended warranty, so I just expected a repair bill, I wish! I have since rang Hitachi, emailed them & they just pass the buck & dont give a stuff basicly. I am in Bangor, North West Wales does anyone know of a competent Hitachi repairman in or near the area and anyone know someone at Hitachi I should contact to get some results? As so far their "service" has been appalling. Sorry for the rant, & TIA.

    He probably didn't have the skills to repair it, that's why he left silently.

    Sure, but why mess me about for a month, just say "I cant fix it" fine by me, honesty best policy & all that.
