Hitachi Dz-mv4000e ???

    It's a DVD camcorder that generally on here we don't like because it's possible that the DVD of your unrepeatable event may not finalise in the camcorder, result no footage.

    This doesn't happen with MiniDV tape.

    It should finalize... there was one person recently with a Hitachi DVD model which failed to... don't know why or how common this is. But it is a problem that gets reported here occasionally (and not just on Hitachi) DVD models.

    Ok, thanks.
    I'll advise him to think carefully b/4 buying a DVD cam.

    What about Hard Drive cams, are they a good bet?

    They can be, but at the lower end of the market you'd get better video quality from a MiniDV cam.

    Not what you want to hear, I shouldn't expect.

    It depends on your budget.
