Hitachi D36FT HD Pocket camcorder

Hi this camcorder looks like an update of the Hitachi 565 I bought a few months ago from the Argos outlet shop for £59.95. IMHO in this category of camcorder this is the best as it includes a genuine 5x optical zoom. Your new model also addresses my main complaint of the controls being too small and close together (OK for Oriental ladies with small hands!.....). Also you have HDMI out whereas I have to use component for HD.

I bought a replacement/backup battery from amazon

Amazon.co.uk: Ex-Pro Fuji NP-60 NP60, High Power Plus+ 1150mAh R...
But please check that this spec is OK for your later bit of kit

For memory you ideally want an 8GB SDHC card with a minimum class 4 rating. I usually find that Play.com (UK): DVDs, Music CDs, MP3s, Video Games, Books, Electronics & Gadgets - Free Delivery offer the best value for money

On my camcorder it gives you the time remaining when you switch on. For an 8GB sdhc card 720p seems to be about 3hrs in "Fine" quality and 3hrs 30mins in "Standard" quality. I use 1080p which is just over 2 hrs in "Fine" mode.
