    Hey guys,

I've had this TV since December 01 and have thoroughly enjoyed it dominating my living room. A week a go however, it developed an intermittent fault.

Essentially, after watching the TV for a bit, the normal picture "clicks" to a hideously deformed effort of it's former self. Basically, the screen is distorted inwards, like a curved 'scroll'. The RGB is also heavily distorted, making everything appear like an LSD adventure.

The strange bit is, turn it off for a while and it straightens itself out! I was resigned to having to either replace the lamps or the tv itself after four years, but this strikes me as a fault in the convergence processing. Would I be right in that assumption?

Any of you ever experienced anything similar?

It's under two years old (just) but only has a one year warranty from empire direct. I'm going to email them and Hitachi but am I right in thinking I'm screwed on this one??

    Ben

...failing that, does anyone know of a reputable place in the Luton / bedfordshire / St Albans / Hitchin area that might be able to repair it?

    Colesy,

    You're a diamond.

Jeez, you may get that in writing yet after all!

I've actually contacted the berkshire guys already as they were the contact details that came with the product. Thanks for going out of your way to help though

    Hi Ben!

I have this TV and had this fault as well!
Fortunatley, I'm covered by one of those Domestic and General policies, so has been repaired, twice!! The next time, I want a new TV.
Such a shame because it's a fantastic TV, when it's not tripping :smoke:

    Cheers,
    John

    Hiya John,

Did they tell you what the intermittent fault actually was? Am I right in thinking that it's the digital convergence? Any idea of the cost to fix it?

    Hi mate,

Repair company didn't say what was wrong, then again I didn't ask, doh!
The cost wasn't quoted as it went straight through Dom & Gen.
    Sorry couldn't be more help.
    Hope it all goes well.

    Cheers,
    John
