The demo I saw of the PWD6 at RS was great, the best there is, black-wise, IMO
Same place, same feed, the 7200 was definitely not as good, but I still bought it, because of HD etc.

Now I've set it up, I would still say that there is, how do you describe it???, more black on the panny.
But I tried the "low" black enhancement setting on my 7200 and it's too black for me !!!!
Blacks, whilst important, are not the be all and end all, to me.
I really feel that this black thing is a perception left from plasmas of 2-3 years ago
I have a Dell LCD for my comp and feel that the black is too black on this, too.
Where the 7200 wins in my mind, is colour vibrancy.
As for the green tint in dark pictures, yes I've seen it, but you can get rid.
I have no respect now for magazine reviews.
My screen is nothing like it was when I first bought it.
I've improved settings (to my mind) dozens of times and it's 3 or 4 weeks old.
I'm now at the stage where I think the screen is slightly over-processed, but have no doubt I will change my mind.
Anyone else had the same sort of experience???
Or is it my (inexperienced) eyes???

    I'm serious though.
They're all blacker than black, IMO and certainly not natural.

    So there!!!! ;)

Ok, it's probably my inexperienced eyes then.

Black isn't really a colour as it is the absence of light. Grey blacks are where there is still some light left. You can't have blacks that are "too" black thats just silly as black is an absolute or no light. Perhaps you just prefer your black's a little bit grey.

    You may be right :smashin:

But try looking up "blacker than black"

Otherwise, I bow to your superior knowledge.

He means there is no detail in dark scenes, if the blacks are too black then you can't see any of the minor details. My LCD monitor screen is too black and playing doom 3 can be very difficult as a result.

I bought the Hitachi 7200 too! I think its awsome!!

I am very picky about screen quality and the only thing that i didn't like about the picture was that sort of 'halftone' effect that you get with the colours  ...

I say 'didn't like' until i saw it next to other plasmays (Panny and Pioneer) and now i don't mind it as I find it makes the picture sharper.

As I'm a graphic artist my eyes always pick up on imperfections in the screen quality and I found very little, if no, difference between the Pioneer XDE and the Hitachi. Although I haven't seen any HDtv stuf ran on either yet, maybe that is where the difference is? I dunno....

Also can anyone tell me if the 7200 does 1080p or 1080i??

Thanks everyone, keep up the good work!

Well what we are all looking for IMO is the quality of black, not the amount of it. We simply cannot make the blacks deeper (in other words blacker than black) on our Hitachis as their blacks are always little greyish compared to i.e. Pannys (Panny's CONTRAST ratio is much better). The BLACK ENHANCEMENT cannot help much here, as it only does more blacks (it simply takes care of parts of the image of any color, but with little light (level selectable) and equals the light information of these parts to zero IMO) so we loose all details on these parts (they are not displayed at all save the solid (grey-)black colour), but in the same time we got the illusion of "deeper" picture. Good for animated movies as they have far less fine details, worse for the rest.
