Hitachi 42pd9700c and Sony DAV-DZ260

Pretty new to all this and i'm trying to get TV sound through the home cinema.

XBOX is connected as normal to TV - Optical cable from xbox to DZ260 - sound from XBOX is played through home cinema, i just can't get the TV to run through the home cinema? any ideas???

you need to connect the tv's audio out phonos(if it has them, to the 3.5mm jack at the front of the 260.
either that or faff about connecting the tv's scart to the scart of the 260, or use the tv's optical out to the 260(more than likely all the tv outputs though is stereo, and a good chance it outputs only the tuners audio,over optical).

read the manual...its explained in there.!!!!

Check in the TV's Menu to see if it has an option to enable External sound output

Just to add to RottenFox's advice

As the output from TV will only be stereo
To enhance it select PLII Movie in system menu
That will give you surround sound from all 5 speakers
Set it back to AFD STD when playing DVD's or XBox
