Would anyone know - I am narrowing my purchase to either Hitachi 42PD7200 or
the LG RZ42PY10 and Im wondering whether the speakers can be taken off and place somewhere on a cabinet as they don't look the best in their current form (I am using dedicated surround sound speakers)

    Can anyone help?

They are removable on the 7200.
In fact, you have to fit them if you want them on.

I would think they would be awkward to stand up though.

    HTH :smashin:

    Great, thanks Badger

I am siding with the Hitachi after reading 3 excellent magazine reviews- Im just concerned in that I haven't seen it in person, but I have the LG  ?
If I purchase the Hitachi, it will be through the web - but I haven't seen it and that worries me??

Has many others purchased this without actually seeing it in action.

    Go see it!!
It is rubbish with default settings, though (bear that in mind).
The panny 500 is raved about, too.
    Go see that, also.
Don't buy anything without seeing it, if you can help it.

    Good luck

I have an LG RZ-42PY10X and the speakers are not detacheable
(at least per instruction manual :) )

It's a good screen, fabulous through PC VGA, when you can really scale your video source through the PC to the native 1024x768 panel resolution.

I know its a pain in the ar*e but go to John Lewis and see both models on display. Then if you like the Hitachi 7200, ask them to Pricematch it there and then with RicherSounds. You can then get it for £2k instead of £2.5k. I did it over the phone and they PM'd straight away when i said i had seen it for less at RicherSounds. Shouldnt have to wait, but if you do it is worth the £500 saving.

Edit - Decided to go for the Panny PV500 in the end as it looked a bit better, (IMO) looks wise. the 7200 is a nice screen though and the motorised stand is a nice idea.
