Am thinking about buying a Hitachi 42PD5000. however I cannot find any reviews and it is not on Hitachi's website.

Can any one give me any info and how different is it to the 42PD3000?

Thanks

Just bought one - have had it for a week. Personnally I thinks its awesome but it depends what you want. If you want a screen for all uses but mainly TV/Sky then I would recommend it as its so cheap. I use it for Sky+ 70%, PC 20% and DVD 10%. For every use it does a great job (though be aware that you need to play with the settings to get the colour and contrast to your liking

The screen gets a 9/10 from me.

Thanks for the reply. This is to replace our main TV so the use will be similar to yours.

My only concern was the negative comments found on this forum about the 3000 screen

Where did you buy yours from?

Hi Mrs Brethy here, we also have the 5000 and are more than happy with it, with three kids it makes a good family tv, cbeebies and fox kids is always on and whilst we remove on screen logos as far as possible we haven't had any problems. As one who isn't quite so technically minded I can just say that I thoroughly enjoy watching it and wish we had bought one sooner:D

I have the 500E which is the same machine (different wrapper) and it too is replacing our old 37" CRT as the family picture window!
No problems at all and as Sky+ is our only tuner I am totally delighted with the quality of the picture.

Best regards David

Hi,
I too am thinking of buying the Hitachi 42PD5000.

Have you ever experienced peoples skin tones changing to red/green when they move quickly on the screen. Settling back to their correct colours once they stop moving? I have read on a few threads this is the case. Especially for soaps, holiday programmes, gardening programmes etc?

Thanks

Keith

I am 100% pleased with my Hitachi Plasma. I can't say I have seen any green skinned soapstars!

Your not alone Fairycake. Kat Slater regularly looks red/green on my Hitachi !- i find that concentrating on the buzzin transformer takes my mind of it :(

Amazing KS just looks pink and fat on my Hitachi. Maybe it comes down to signal quality or maybe its down to how it is set up . Saw a mates new panasonic today, by comparison to the Hitachi the picture was shocking. So we put it through my Onkyo Receiver and hey presto 100% better although still not as good as the Hitachi

As I have already posted else where

Just got my 5300, still waiting for my home cinema and freeview box to arrive so only have it connected by standard TV aerial and old cheap RGB DVD player.

But I am sooooooooo impressed with how good the TV picture is on a non digital source, much better than I anticipated. At normal viewing distance looks as good as my old 28"CRT, so can't wait for the rest of my gear to arrive and really enjoy how good this screen is.
