Hi, I have seen this Plasma in Richer Sounds. I notice Empire Direct have the Hitachi 42PD5200 for £100 less. I am a little confused as to the differences in the specs. I know the 42PD5200 has a built in tuner. Is the picture display and everything else identical? Should I purchase the 42PD5200 over the 42PD5000?

    Thanks.

Have you tried a decent scart lead?
I have the pdp-434-hde manufactured in May04 (not sure if this makes a difference, but the installation guys seemed impressed)
And the Footy is spot on.

Go for the 5200, it have a single scart socket then you can add other componets through the built in component inputs. The 5000 does not have many options for connectivity. If you want the 5200 try www.flatdeal.co.uk

I purchased a 5300 from them & they provided an excellent service. You can also have one year interest free.

The 5000 Richer Sounds sell has identical inputs to the 5200 with the exception of the RF in.

Can anyone confirm that this is in fact the same as the 5200? are there any further differences at all bar the lack of rf in?

The 5000 pro being supplied by Richer sounds is a 5000 with the optional video board, making it exactly the same as the 5100.

I have the 5300, and very pleased

Hello I'm new and a bit thick!

    I'm after a 42" Plama.

Richer sounds are currently selling a Hitachi 42PD5200 PRO for £1500 (£1650, with three years warrenty), alternatively I've been considring a Samsung PS42s5sd. I was going to get the hitachi but someone put a post on saying their friend's Samsung was better!

How is the pro version better than the original?

I havn't got sky so i was gonna put a freeview box, an av amp for my surround sound, a dvd player and an xbox. Is all this possible and what would be the best setup.

Any help would be appreciated :lease:

Try RGB Direct or Sound and Vision online as they are both doing the upgraded 5200H which handles 720p 50Hz for under £1400 with a free portable DVD player from Hitachi. Richer Sounds are simply trying to shift older stock of non HD compliant 5200's which cannot handle Hi-Def Sky broadcasts.
