Hi, ive gained a hitachi widescreen 3 dimentional sound tv but have no remote. How do i access the menu to change the bass, treble, mode etc etc

ive occasionally managed to get it to appear but don't know how i managed it.
I only have vol up/down and program up/down buttons so am assuming some combination.
any help will be most appreciated.

Are you sure there isn't a menu button on the front under the crt hidden under a flap accessed by pushing it in?
Why not just buy a cheap remote for it...a pattern type remote will be a lot cheaper than the original and give you access to all the features...something you cannot do with a universal type.
Just do a Google search using the TV model no as the search term.

Hey, I've looked all through the front control panel and there isnt a menu button for tuning. The only buttons there are the volume (up and down) and the channel (up and down) and there are no other panels or flaps on the tv. I've tried a few universal remote controls but they didnt seem to work for some reason. I borrowed a hitachi remote from a friends tv to test the remote sensor and that actually worked ok but that remote has now gone and i could still do with accessing the control menu to sort the sound and picture. thanks for the suggestions, any other advice would be welcomed.

A pattern remote is the only option I think.

    You'll kick yourself.

All you have to do is press both volume buttons at the same time.

Then use channel buttons to go up/down and volume buttons to enter info.

Took me hours too so I can't laugh much.
