i know people are divided by this tv but i really like the look/style of it and its only 1400.00 which is in my budget.

    hopefully u can help me,

what are the sky/cable pictures like?

what is the dvd quality like hooked up to a dvi/hdmi dvd player?

i really want these pictures to be excellent because i love the look of the tv so much (and more importantly my wike does also).

she won't let me get a toshiba 32wl48 lcd because she says it looks like a pc moniter and will look awful wall mounted??????

Hi. i have a Hitachi 42PD5200, your plasma's big brother. The picture quality is outstanding even from a Sky RGB Scart. I have my PC connected to it via the DVi socket & it is very good. Plenty of contrast & the blacks are, well, black & not grey. I've got my old modified Pioneer 737 DVD player connected via component for NTSC prog. scan & is very good. I've got a Pioneer LD player & a Panny NV-HS900 S-VHS vid going through my Yamaha AX-1 via the S-video connection. Even an analogue LD picture is quite good.
    Ta, Neil.

We've only got the Hitachi 32PD3000 and we love it to bits! Any bigger than 32" would have been overkill in the room. It's got a sensible number of the right inputs (1 S-Video, 2RGB and 1 component) to put the kit through. Nice size and the picture is absolutely stunning - it's easy to get very used to it, and it only becomes apparent when at friends and families quite how spoilt you get.

I've just got the 32pd5200 and now i have wired it up to Sky+, VCR and Bose DVD media centre; it is brilliant.
Only one scart but used that for sky box, componet for DVD and s-video for VCR (with adapter).
I dont like having the speakers on the screen as they tend to spoil the look but rather that than everything going thru surround sound off the DVD.
I can tell you that the Hitachi speakers do give surround effect on their own!

    Cost £1599 with a stand.

I too have the 42" version, and can confirm that the dvd using dvi-hdmi is absolutely outstanding.
Picture quality blows me away, with a superb colour palette and as above the blacks are brilliant. It exceeds all of our expectations absolutely.

Example - watched Indianna Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark through component (as a test) and noticed a few imperfections, then immediately plugged in the DVI-HDMI and the difference was astounding. Loving it.

    Enjoy

Wow! No Hitachi bashers anywhere!! Maybe they are all crumbling under the pressure of all us Hitachi owners and all our positive feedback.

Chris, you won't be dissapointed with the Hitachi and for £1400 it's a great bargain!

I think what you are trying to say is that they are ALIS (hitachi Fujitsu makes the ALIS panels) but SONY/Phillips and Hitachi use the 32" Glass but never heard of lasting any longer than the standard glass form Panny/NEC/PIO etc only ALIS comes in such a small size tho 37" is smallest for "normal glass"
