Hi folks, I'm looking at either the Hisense U7A vs A6500 both at 55".

Apart from the U7A being their ULED i can't see any difference and the price is identical, other that the U7A is edge lit and the A6500 is direct lit (but is the ULED worth it being edge or is it a gimmick?).

Opinions are welcome, viewing angles are less important as the tv is smack bang in front of us, although there is a window behind us facing the TV so i think brightness could be important.

Its replacing an aging LG 42LH3000, its done me very well in the many years but half the screen sometimes is black or just random stripes (been told unfixable so a good excuse for a 55").

    Thanks

Edit : Seems even though itd edge lit the U7A has local dimming :/

The U7A is discounted to £600 whilst the A6500 is a lower tier model and is overpriced. No question about it the U7A is the better TV.

Local dimming on even the U7A isn't really a factor since it doesn't become beneficial until you look at much higher end models.

Thanks for the fast reply! I did manage to order a samsung 7070 but they canceled the order because of stock which was a shame because it was only £699 bnib.

The Samsung NU8000 which is the closest model to last years MU7000/MU7070 will no doubt come down in price closer to that in time. Its a fine line to getting a bargain and TVs selling out, just like with the MU7070 you missed out on.
