Can anyone tell me definitively which is better, all I can ascertain is this so far:

H49M3000 seems cheaper, one inch smaller, slightly smaller speakers HDR upgradable ( via usb ) for use via HDMI (but not built in apps e.g. Netflix)

H50M3300 better panel (darks) but no HDR, slightly more expensive, slightly louder speakers..? Slightly different stand.

Am i missing something, its most confusing. I really want a budget UHD with passive 3D but cannot find one.

HDR content compatibility (which is what the update will be adding) is probably not going to be a big deal. I'd be surprised to see anything go HDR-exclusive within the lifetime of a budget TV. I'd imagine they both get the compatibility update.

Have you considered looking second hand if nothing meets your requirements new? I dare say there are plenty of enthusiasts selling three or four year old models that are much more likely to have 3D.
