this may sound daft but here goes....

everyone keeps banging on about the next gen consoles being able to output in High Def.

This is great but will it make a blind but of difference to people (like myself) who dont have an HD tv??

Nope, won't notice anything different over the standard Xbox connected to your standard telly.

But at least it is something you can utilise when you eventually do get a HDTV. I have a plasma that is not HD ready, but even the 720p should look slightly better than at 480p.

    thanks for your replies.

I too have a none hd plasma that I am more than happy with. I also own a chiped xbox that can show in HD apparently.

I know most of the HD plasmas at the mo are 720p yet the xbox and ps2 can show far more than this,so even a 720p plasma will not be giving you the full potential.

I think this market really needs to calm down before I go and get my wallet out yet again!

i would have thought due to faster hardware it will have decent antialiasing.

personally, i don't find 480 a poor resolution it's the jaggies and rough edges that make it look bad. if your current games were cinematic quality you wouldn't complain about resolution. i am expecting a big improvement even on standard definition screens.

There will be very few games running at 1080i.

Microsoft have stated that 720p is the standard for the Xbox 360, and while Sony have blabbered on about 1080p combatibility, very, very few games will utilize it.
