i have a option to back up my dvd`s using my computer by copying them .but only for my use.
On films with dts could drop the extra`s and dd5.1 option and encode the dts at a higher bit rate from half rate to full rate or is that not possable.

Half bit rate is still half bitrate even if it was possible there would be no extra gain for you as the disc was released using halfbitrate DTS not full, there is no gain to be had here.
