Anyone suggest a high grade cable at a decent price?

I need a 9 metre run from a Panasonic tuner box to the 42 inch plasma.
    Needs 5 phono connectors: RGB H + V.

I've been told to go for Cord cable at approx £300.

Any better ideas - better deals etc?

    Thanks in advance.

    Aksmoe.

Give Alastair from AV Sales a bell, he will make you a VanDamme RGB/H/V cable with choice of connectors for less than a third of that.
Superb cable and all 5 cores are in one sleeve to keep it neat.

May have been better to post this in the cables section ;)

    STOP!!!

The tuner box is a dog and spending money on an expensive cable is folly (sorry mentally expensive cable in this instance) - I'd look seriously at how your system was connected and look at alternatives to the Tuner box.

As Gizraloc suggests VanDamme offer a whole heap of performance for much less than many 'branded' cables - that's why we and many in the AV, Broadcast and Installation trade have been using miles of the stuff for a fair few years.

Also you have to ensure that the cables from your source to your switcher (tuner in your current set-up) are not compromising the video signal.

What's the rest of your set up?

    Best regards

    Joe

PS And ignore anyone who suggests a £300 Video cable on the end of the Panasonic Tuner box!!!

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for the reply.

    Here's the setup:

TIVO - from tivo via QED 1 metre scart to
DVHS recorder - from dvhs via 1 metre qed scart to
Panasonic DVD recorder - from dvd recorder via 1 metre QED scart to
    Panasonic tuner box.

(This daisy chain hasn't had any real noticable effect from Sky broadcasts.)

What would you suggest instead of the tuner box?
From recent conversations it seems it's not helping the quality!

From your comments it seems Van Damme is perfectly good broadcast grade cable. Is this as good as Cord?

    Thanks for your advice.

Wow - I thought my set up was more complicated than it need be :)

I'm surprised you actually see an Image from your Digibox after all those boxes add or subtract to the signal!

Do you have an AV Receiver in your system and if Yes which one and if No any reason not to consider one!

Do you really need to have the ability to record your Digibox feed to TiVo, DVHS and a DVR?

I take it you use your DVR as your DVD player - for Pre Recorded and Recorded discs?

    Best regards

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

Soudns like you have some fun toys in your Av rack too!

I need to be able to archive from TIVO and DVHS.
At some point in the future - i expect to pull the DVHS out of the loop.
So at least that will mean - Sky - TIVO - DVDr.

Yes - I use the DVR as the player too.

I looked at upgrading to the Pioneer 50" plasma with their flagship HDMI output DVD player.
Looking at the jumps in technology over the next 12 months, I'm holding out to see what happens.

Back to the main issue - Van Damme cable then?!

    Best WIshes,

    Marc.
