Could anyone help me with some advice.
I have a Sony CX-850 DVD player which is linked up to a Sanyo PLV-30 projector connected via S-Video. I also have a Pioneer DVD606 which is connected via component. The image quality from both is exceptional but the Pioneer due to the component connection is better. I am looking to get another player a Sony-CX-860. Same as the CX-850 but with component connectors. Will the image quality from the CX-860 with its component connectors be better than the old CX-850 with S-Video. Will it be better than the Pioneer or as good, I am not sure if the Pioneer is progressive scan or not?

Well in theory, component is better quality than s-video.
If your projector has a VGA input then you might want to think about using a home cinema PC which is progressive scan and picture quality wise, will wipe the floor with any stand-alone DVD player.

I have recently upgraded from the Pioneer 606 to a 545 and the improvement in picture quality is noticeable.

I don't know whether this is due to the change from s-video to RGB or the general improvement in DVD players in thye last three or four years.

In theory if I can notice a difference on my 32" TV you should be able to notice even more on a projector.

Ian do you know if the Pioneer 606 is progressive scan or not or does it output a standard component signal?
