    Hello,
I'm hoping someone can give me an indication of what may be wrong with a TX-W28R3 panasonic TV I own.

It CONSTANTLY makes a really annoying high-pitched whining noise from the set. It varies in pitch and intensity, and is really annoying.

Also it very occasionally fails to turn on from stand-by (with the remote) and instead flickers and shows some Red/Green/Blue dots in the middle of the screen (the electron guns I take it?)

Will I be wasting money getting this repaired or does it sound like a small/obvious fault

    Thanks
    Jpf

The flyback transfomer may need replacing. Couldn't tell you what it might cost. Ring up a service agent and explain the symptoms.

    Thanks Adam,
Would the flyback transformer result in both of those symptoms?
