I have just bought accoustic energy aego p2 to use as my rears and have a couple of questions.

The terminal only accepts a phono plug type arrangement i.e. it has no +/- terminals. Of course, the speaker cable provided is too short and anyway I have already had cable hidden in my walls from when I had my room re-plastered. Can I simply ‘shove’ both + and – cable into the phono socket?

Also, the speakers do not have a high pass filter protection – will I blow them up if I connect them directly to my Marantz 5300? According to the blurb they should be run from the output on the sub – but I don’t want to do this? Will they be OK at moderate levels?
