After much expense and hard work I now have I feel a very high end system

    Jeff Rowland Concerto Preamp
2 x Jeff Rowland Model 501 Monobloc power amps
    Lector CDP-7 cd player
    PMC MB2 XBDS Speakers
and am looking for a turntable to finish with, someone has suggested the Origin Live Sovereign? has anyone heard this/offer any advice, I have a budget of around £10k

    Many Thanks

Heard the Origin Live Sovereign recently, when I was buying a somewhat less expensive TT.

Beautifully made, and although a short demo(along with the Shanling CDT-300),the quality of the sound was superb....very controlled but also very detailed and expressive, and amongst the best I've heard.
Amps were Viva 845 monoblocs/pre/phono stage and Wisdom Dipole speakers,so in all about £30ks worth of replay...beautiful.

You may also want to consider the SME and perhaps the ClearAudio, and I am sure there wil be a few other suggestions, but quite honestly I was very impressed by what I heard.

Would suggest that Transrotor and Avid get a look in. Best TT's I heard at Munich this year. Those cheeky Germans sure know how to do a good turntable :).

Quite honestly, any dealer who will be asking you to part with that sort of money really should be able to offer you a home demo,or at the very least a properly specc'd demo in their own systems.

If you wanted to have a look/listen to the exact same system that I listened to,give Nick at the Emporium a call....very nice guy,who seems to have endless amounts of time to spend and made no pressures at all to buy....also does home dems of some gear but I couldn't guarantee anything like the Sovereign.

I would say again that the system I heard there was one of the most relaxing and convincing I've heard in a long time...plus a very good cup of tea after a long drive!

    www.emporiumhifi.com 01379 870873 Norfolk/Suffolk border Nr Diss.

He also frequently has ex-dem samples of his gear and has a Sovereign advertised on his site.

Metropolis Hi-Fi in Tunbridge Wells allow home demos, subject to deposit of course. Very nice chaps they are too: http://www.sounds-of-music.co.uk/newfront_page.htm

Sorry - can't help you with a reccy, but everyone keeps banging on about that Brinkmann La Grange turntable, which is £8.5k (sans cart).

BTW Steelee, I see you have a Lector CDP. Interesting. I was looking at their website a couple of weeks ago. They seem very reasonable value, all things considered.

Shame they're so bloody difficult to find....

If you would consider the second hand market how about Goldmund or the Townshend Reference.

Nick at the Emporium has one...it does sound as good as it looks, easily as good as any of the Levinson/Wadia items I've heard, and really quite close to the dCS.

The simon yorke s7 and brinkmann lagrange are the best decks for around that money - followed by the avid. All of these are a long way ahead of the OL.

    Regards,

    Nick.
