high end subwoofer(s) (worth it?)

Standard Member
Hi, i have had my current hifi system for about six months now and was wondering about subs. my set up is as follows:
onkyo NDS1 digital transport with ipod loaded with FLAC tracks.
teac UD-HO1 DAC
harmon kardon hk990 amp
elac FS248 floorstanders.

I love this set up, i have to stress that, but i will say (and thats why im here!) when listening to heavy-ish guitar and drum i just miss that bit of bass. bar it being at wall shaking sound levels.

So.. i effectively want to know what sort of difference a sub( or two) would make at average sound levels (-50db to -40db , if that helps??) and how much i'd be talking to keep up with my system.

and just a little footnote.. DO expensive speaker wires, coaxials etc.. make a REAL difference!?

Thanks in advance, scott. :smashin:
