There's not been a lot of action in that catagory for a while now. I think Loewe probably still make a large 4:3 TV but you'd probably have to travel to the continent to buy it. Up until last year Sony were making a 29" with picture enhancement (KV-29FQ85) which you may still find old stock of on the continent.

I don't know of any high-end black ones though.

    Trevor,

As a matter of interest, why are you looking for a 4:3 TV when more and more broadcasts are widescreen?

It's a bit like someone wanting a black & white TV.

    Or have I missed something?

Old skool video games :) also i use a supergun which is a device for playing arcade PCB games and as you know arcade games are 99% of time displayed in 4.3 and stretching them to 16.9 is ok but they always look better in true 4.3 CRT

All widescreen sets have a 4:3 standard mode which lets you watch in the correct aspect ratio but with vertical bars either side of the picture. You could use that for the games and still have the benefits of widescreen.

    hi,
if you are looking for a 4:3 tv ,i suggest a second hand b&o ,the best that they did i think was the av9000, which was 50 htz and motorised.

Black model with 100hz picture processing. Probably only find it on the continent however but looks a good set.

In hindsight, I'd go with a 4:3 television for console gaming because even though it's possible on a widescreen set the picture is smaller and geometry problems come to light.

PS the place I linked to will send out internationally for 70 EUR.

Hi Trevor I just thought I'd reply to this thread as I play a ton of games and have recently purchased a Loewe Articos is black and I have to say it makes a good job of standard pictures plus the geometry is perfect!

If I were you I'd definately go for a widescreen as someone else said you also get the benefit of being able to watch widescreen films too.
