I was thinking about buying a DVD recorder/HD drive. I'm hesitating because I will also want Sky High Definition when it becomes available.

I assume that to record HD onto DVD you will need a Blu Ray or HDD recorder. When are these likely to be available?

Also will any HD recorder be able to record in HD, or is new technology required? I assume the new Sky HD recorder will record in HD.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ask yourself what your current needs are and buy accordingly. If you base your decision on what's coming, you'll never buy anything, especially if it's to do with recording HD transmissions to whichever suitable optical format prevails.

I think that SKY will be using HDCP which will pretyt much stop a lot of the recording anyway
