    Hi..

I tried this disc out tonight on my DV88+. DVD side works fine had a listen to the 5.1 tracks (not dvd-a as I do not have the card) and a peak at the videos.

Tried the Cd side, comes up no disc!, it gets spat out of my mac's dvd drive (slot drive -- it loads in ok!) and reads the TOC on a older sharp cd boombox but will not play the tracks.. not a very impressive start to a new format !

I hope this is mainly down to a cheaply produced sampler disc and not a indication of things to come.

I have 3 US import Dual Discs on the way so I can test the real deal soon!

    Cheers

    Matt

I tested this disc in the store on several machines. The DV78 played both sides ok but the DV79 and DV29 refuse to recognise the CD side.

    Hi All

I tried both sides in my DV27A and it worked without any problem.

The article in the magazine did say that the DualDisc does not show the CD Audio logo because the CD side is not 100% compatible. It said that some DVD players and DVD-ROM drives may have probems with it.

It said this was because the CD layer is not as reflective in a DualDisc as in a real CD. (I think this was because the CD "half" is thinner than a normal CD.)

It said that if the drive has problems with CD-RWs then it might have problems with DualDiscs.

Can you tell me where I can get such a sample disc? Is there a website or shop I can go to. Perhaps even a copy if it's not copyrighted.

    Cheers

Update: All of the Arcam machines in the shop now play both sides of the dual disc, just needed a little laser lens cleaning.

Not quite sure, LT78 I think, or is it LT76. Andy, Engineer or John will be able to give you a definative answer to that.

I wonder if I can upgrade my firmware to the level that the DV79/Dv29 are at ? Or I wonder if the drive is a different model alltogether ?
