Want to bye hi fi separates and this is my first system would like advice. After some searching through net and shops decided to go for amp CA A5, cd player marantz CD5400 and can't decide between speakers Gale3040 or sony SS-MF450H.Don't want to spend more than £500.Is this combination good to start with as i am not expert and don't know where to start.
Any other suggestion ? Thanks. :)

I had a very similar choice to you, but I changed the Cambridge Audio amp as I wasnt impressed. I had to turn it up really loud to get a decent sound from it. I changed it for the Marrantz 4400, to go with my Marrantz cd5400 cd player (great buy).
I would though see if you can get a nad amp for less than 200.
As for speakers I picked TDL Kev1 but if you can afford 180 quid go for the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1.

Speaker cable use CAT5, and for an interconnect Mark grant makes great cables.
