I wonder if it would be appropriate to keep a bargain thread going under the hi fi section of this forum for all stuff relating to 2 channel or multi channel systems - speakers, amps, CD players, streamers, dacs and turntable stuff. If the forum owners agree?

This way anything which gets posted here can be sent to people as an update, also to help shape advice to people who want to purchase great deals and go one better than stuff sold at Rrp with no discount.

The bargain section (under save money) is filled with stuff which primarily doesn't relate to hi fi.

I'm aware of these deals recently, whether all are still on offer I'm not sure.

    - nintronics were selling £2500 dc8 tannoy speakers half price . Better than tannoy xt6f at around same price, albeit standmounter Tannoy Definition DC8 review

    - pmc twenty 23s
Were £2400, new end of line wood veneer pairs were being sold by lintone audio for £1500 (you can still buy this model in graphite finish for £2170)

-Cambridge audio azur 851n - sold in a dealer Rrp for £1400, on eBay at £1099

    - musical fidelity mx dac - £700 but you can get them online for £480

You can get kef r500 speakers in rosewood finishes for 20% off from audio affair, I saw. Delivery free to uk.

The finish is discontinued and they bought up all the remaining stock apparently.

    Originally £1500 now £1200.

Although I've 'liked' your original post, I'm almost wishing you hadn't posted that: those Tannoy DC8s are giving me ideas I really shouldn't be having right now :D

Well, I like the look of them: they were well-reviewed at £2500 which I would imagine makes them a superb proposition at £1500.... but I shouldn't really be looking to drop that amount of money on HiFi right now. Damn this hobby!

    No £1250 not £1500.

    I know it's annoying isn't it.

No, they are £1500 - I just checked again. But on the latter remark, "Tru, dat" as they say in 'The Wire'.

The person I know who got them on this forum, got them half price at a nintronics showroom demo. I see they are advertised at forty percent off. They probably just asked for a bit more and got it. Bear in mind the mark up dealers make on speakers, its worth asking.

Interesting to know. What does this guy make of the speakers, then?
