Okay, so the header was pretty controversial to grab your attention, but I am currently looking to purchase the Panasonic 42" plasma which offers native 480p resolution. As this is the native resolution for region 1 DVDs (I only buy region 1), would there actually be any point in buying a higher resolution display, such as the new Pioneer 43" (with the lack of high res programming in the UK)?

I also have a US XBox and know that DOA3 supports 720p, but a couple of games aren't enough to convince me. Is there really any benefit to upsampling the DVD image on a higher resolution display?
