There are no PAL or NTSC HF200s. There are 50i and 60i models, though. The main differences are frame-rate and price.

I'm wondering the same thing...so how does the frame rate effect playing through a HD LCD\Plasma tv in Europe if i buy and NTSC HD camcorder?

for exampe the EU version of the HF200 shoots:
AVCHD 1920 x 1080/50i
AVCHD 1920 x 1080/25p

where as the US version:
AVCHD 1920 x 1080/60i
AVCHD 1920 x 1080/24p
AVCHD 1920 x 1080/30p

Most if not all HDTVs will play both 50i and 60i high definition video. 25p, 30p, and 24p video is streamed as 50i (in the case of 25p) or 60i (in the case of 30p and 24p) when playing directly from the camcorder, in most cases (exceptions like Canon's HV40, which I believe shoots "true" 24p, are rare in the consumer camcorder world).

As for editing, always match your import settings to the video you are importing. In the OP's case, this means using whatever preset his or her software provides for editing AVCHD 1080i60 video.

so as long as its playing on a HD screen and i'm not trying to edit 50hz and 60hz content together there shouldnt be any problems?
Is there any issue if you want to create SD versions for a dvd player or will a region free player play it?
A separate question: my tv is only 1080i\720p, will i have any problem playing a 1080p recording from the camcorder or a media player ?
