I ahve just purchased a HP pavilion zv5000 and want to copy video camera footage of my children on to DVD. I have bought the recommended leads for my canon camcorder (Dv leads) but unfortunately there is no connection to my computer for this type of lead. Is there any other type of lead that I can use to connect to the computer from my canon camcorder. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your HP have any firewire connections - there are 2 types of connector; the mini type that will connect to your camcorder and the std type that are typicall at teh PC end which look like these....

If you have these connectors then you just need to get a mini to std Firewire lead

If you don't have firewire then you can purchase a firewire card for about £10 - £15 whihc you can fin in your PC.

The alternative is (if you camcorder supports it) is to use USB to transfer - although I wouldn't recommend this method as you lose all the miniDV information that makes editing easier
