I'm confused what is D-Terminal and what is it used for?.

It looks like a VGA port from the pic?. This is what I have connected my Xbox360 to my LCD-TV.

Just buy a Male to Female VGA extension lead

Why not extend the other end - the one with the standard connectors?

Unfortunately theres no standard connectors at the other end, just a male Xbox connector (see URL below). I wonder if the Xbox end can be extended?

As you can see its not easy. Theres probably some really cheap S-Terminal Extender sat on some Japanese website somewhere, its just finding it. Any japanese readers out there?

    Something like this I guess:

    http://www.yodobashi.com/enjoy/more/i/cat_1045_144_886_45591150/22939753.html

That is only a 1.5m, but that is the only extender cable I could find amongst 200+ d-sub and component cables there. I guess they assume you would just buy a longer cable, rather than suffer from the signal degradation caused by introducing an additional junction with the extender.

The words that you would need to search for are
    D-sub = D端子
    Extension = 延長用

Remember you can often use babelfish.altavista.com to help translate web pages from Japanese.

The problem you will face is that most Japanese websites will only ship domestically. You would need to find somebody living in Japan, or going there to get the cable for you.

I am off to Japan in a couple of weeks, but not sure if I will have time to get to an electronics shop.

Please be aware that the ebay cable you linked to is just a standard male-male cable, not a male-female extender cable...

Cheers Osakan, thats the first part of the challenge sorted - we've found a cable. I googled the model number & there are lots of japanese stores with them. As you predicted they only want to ship internationally.

Does anybody on here live in Japan?

Heres a piccy & link for info:

Sorry I'm late to the party. I just got back from holiday. Are you sure you want an extension? I'm pretty sure I've seen (and may even have) simple dongles that change them into normal 3 RCA-plug component video. Would that be better for the long term?

    Alex

Its definitely the D-Terminal extension cable that I need, thanks so much for the offer of the free dongle though :):):), that was very generous.

The original DH-DD15E Lead by Elecom that you found is exactly what I need

    This one

Are you able to get this locally? Failing that would you be able to order from Amazon Japan for me?

Let me know how much money you will need, I take it you have a paypal account?

    Quick update:

Alex has not only found & posted this cable after trying two different stores but he has asked me to donate the money required to charity (I have decided to support Tsunami Relief).

What a nice guy, a real credit to the community spirit that exists on these forums!
