Finally, after months of waiting, we're gonna get that Loewe Aconda 9381 after all!! :p

I spent a good hour at Harrod's AV department today, reviewing the several models. The 40" version is just TOOOO good... and as much as I'd like to save up and get one of these, it ain't gotta happen. So I'm sticking to the good ol' 32" 9381 with the stratos metallic light finish.

Now I just have to find somewhere to purchase one of these from. Most department stores want £1999 plus stand, while EmpireDirect.co.uk can do the same TV with the stand and delivery all for £1942 which seems much better. I'll only need to put a pace digibox and a DVD player so I'll manage with that stand.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a department store in London which sells the 9381 and will price match online stores. Though AVShopDirect.co.uk sell the same for a similar price, so perhaps John Lewis or House of Fraser would pricematch them since they are a "real" company. Does the fact that they're based in Glasgow matter, or do these pricematch offers apply to local stores only??

Also, if anyone here has bought a Loewe Aconda from EmpireDirect.co.uk, please be kind enough to share your experiences (positive I hope!).

    Thanks guys!! ;)

Can't comment directly from experience, but when I looked into it

    1. Empire direct do have a shop in Leeds (to pricematch too), but the prices are higher than online
    2. AVshopdirect are online only - but they do have a shop (which is also online) and is about 20-40 quid more

so you should be able to pricematch to either of those (hopefully)

I'll end the useful bit by telling you i've got a 9381 smoked glass stand for sale in the classifieds :)

I got Audio-T in Cheltenham to price match Robert Whyte in Glasgow. I got an Aconda 9281 for £1299 and my friend got a 9381 for £1599. Pretty Fantastic!!!

Ask for Andy on 01242 583960, they are really helpful.

There may be one near you. http://www.audio-t.co.uk

Badger: Thanks for the link, I may try and get JL/HoF to pricematch Robert Whyte.

Seanm: I don't see the benefit of getting a store like that to pricematch them. JL/HoF offer 5 year guarantees and great customer service, apparently.. but unless I purchase from one of Audio-T's stores in person (I'll probably be ordering over the phone) then there's no advantage.

Please keep the replies coming in. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm keen on hearing from people who've bought the Loewe Aconda from EmpireDirect.co.uk.

    Cheers!!

I think it depends on the store.
Both John Lewis Cribbs Causeway (Bristol) and Solihull.

Would only price match on a like for like basis.

So if Robert Whyte don't give 5 yrs Warranty neither will they.

    try it you never know.

Well, as far as I know, the warranty comes free with all TV's, so that shouldn't even be taken into consideration.

If ED had the stand in stock, I'd place the order right now, but I've heard too many horror stories about people ordering when the item's are out of stock!! :(

    Thanks for the advice.

Guys!! I just went down to the Enfield outlet of Audio-T and ordered a Loewe Aconda 9381.. and they pricematched Robert Whyte.. AND they made a miscalculation resulting in me getting the TV for just £1530!!!!!!!

Of course I would have stated the mistake, but I was in such a rush to get home I never had the chance! :D The downside is that I only get the standard 2 year RTB warranty and, unfortunately, they won't include delivery.. but when they ring me to confirm I'll try and get them to sort me out, you never know.

I'll probably explain later.. but right now, can you all please go this post and tell me your thoughts: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33854

    Cheers!
