I've just finished listening to the latest Henry Rollins spoken word cds "Talk is cheap volumes 1 & 2". Anyone else out there listen to this stuff? Anyone else going to see him on his current tour?

to be honest, I can take or leave his music, with the exception of Low Self Opinion which is a classic. The spoken word stuff is what really interests me and the two new ones are double cds @ $10 each, which is a bargain in anyone's language. I urge anyone who hasn't heard Hank in full flow to try these. Volume #2 has an excellent piece on his trip to see Kiss in concert in San Bernadino. Funny and thought provoking in equal measure. :smashin:

Very under-rated guy who is in fact very intelligent and witty. There's a couple of great doc's about him and his spoken stuff is worthwhile too. May well go and see him live, actually...

I caught him doing his stand-up tour a few years ago. For a guy that's as intense as Henry is, some of his humour is remarkably subtle. He's a great story teller and once he gets going he's hilarious.
Strangely I've never actually bought any of his spoken word albums. Looks like I may have to now.

Henry is co-hoasting Full Metal Challenge on Channel 4 which starts on April 6.
I think his current tour has London on Sunday April 13th, though I may not be able to make it.

you can pick up Henry's spoken word stuff at two1361.com, the website of his publishing company. The earlier stuff is a little rough but worth the effort. I would say that anything from "The box life" onwards is a good place to start.

I have my tickets to see Henry at the Dominion in London on 13/04/03 - I promise you it'll be great. This will be about the fourth or fifth time I've seen him and he just gets better. It's more story telling than stand up - or maybe it's observational comedy taken to the nth degree. If you dig Bill Hicks, you should check out Henry. Don't get me wrong - Hicks was the master, but you can definitely see the link. Go on, do yourself a favour...:smashin:

Talk is cheap Vol 4 is also on sale from here next week. Still only $10 for a double CD and $1 of that goes to a home for abused and neglected children in LA - how can you afford not to buy it?
