    Just got round to watching the highlights of the Arsenal v Liverpool game from yesterday and have got to say that Thierry Henry's performance was one of the best one man shows I have seen for a while in the Prem ..... is there any doubt that he is the best player in the Premiership?

    How much is he worth if Chelsea & Barcelona get into a bidding war this summer, as it seems likely he is on his way to pastures new?

    best in the prem with rooney not a 1000 miles away imho,ronaldinho,eto`o and then HENRY would be my pick.i had the honour of seeing him play a few times at anfield and i have to be honest and say when you actually see the man on the pitch and watch him he is something else.on tv you only see what they want you to but you just find yourself watching him more than your own teams strikers (espcially our lot) lol.

    i dont think he looks anywhere near as interested or alive as he was 2 seasons ago though and even though he can turn it on when he wants i would be amazed if he stayed another season,i think a man of his skill needs a bigger challenge than staying at arsenal.

    As a Spurs fan it pains me to admit that - but yes, he's the best player in the Premiership.

    But it saddens me that he is only too ready to run the ball into the corners with minutes to go if Arsenal are winning. A truly great player shouldn't need to do this. It's cynical, breeds bad blood, and is not the way the game should be played. I know other teams do it - two wrongs don't make a right. I sometimes get the feeling he does it because he feeks he can't trust his team mates to retain possession.

    And another thing, it wouldn't hurt him to show some pleasure in scoring a goal - his sullen attitude looks like arrogance.

    So, being a Spurs fan I will concede he's the best - but he could behave a lot better.

    He actually had a better "one man show" against Fulham a couple of weeks back - okay, not quite the same calibre of a defence but still, was phenomenal!

    And people who keep saying that he crumbles when it comes to the big matches ... this is just such a myth! He scores against all the big teams, every season (right, i'm sure some jobsworth with come up with some petty statistic now) but i remember a couple of goals against Chelsea last year, Madrid, Man Utd on many an occasion, Liverpool, Roma etc ... And what player doesn't have some off games? It's impossible to play at the highest level and score every game! Slightly off the subject but i remember Ruud Van Nistlerooy either last season or a couple of seasons ago scored something like 25 goals but about 15 of them were penalties!

    Henry is by far the most complete player imo and wouldn't swap him with anyone, not even that brazilian chap ;)

    I think that people over-react to this kind of play and that the correct context must be taken. 4th spot in the league is vital and when you are defending a slender lead to good team such as Liverpool - possession MUST be retained. Many teams get punished so often in the dying stages of games so it's vital to keep the ball. I agree, it's not pretty to watch but when 3pts is all that counts - so be it. I bet you wish your team managed to retain possession at the weekend to avoid conceding that last minute goal to Chelsea? How often has that happened to Spurs this season?

    ^^ i love that and when people say liverpool are a one man team but the stats say something other. Liverpool win more matchs than lose % wise when stevie G does not play.

    SG has missed 5 games for LFC in all comps this season (& I include that Benfica game cos he played 8 mins at the end only whilst unfit).

    Sofia - LFC Lost
    Blackburn - LFC Won
    Fulham - LFC Lost
    Charlton - LFC Lost
    Benfica - LFC Lost

    But saying that, we're no more a one man team than Arsenal.....

    i dont know about this season it was done on sky sports last summer when people thought he would be leaving the % then was pretty high in favour of winning more games with out him than with him.

    Henry is pure class - as a man utd fan i am a huge rooney admirer and think that he is superb for us at present.

    However as a constant quality player over the last number of years Henry is the man - i do genuinely hope that arsenal can keep him as he is a joy to watch and i love the whole attitude (not in a bad way) that he has when he plays football.

    If he doesn't stay at arsenal - i would have him at man utd any time!!!!

    Talking about one man show did anybody see rooney against newcastle.....UNBELEIVABLE:eek: :eek: .

    When Rooney is Henry's age he will be the greatest theres ever been.

    He has pace ,power,dribbling,scores with fineese,scores scrappy goals, scores with head,two footed,he can defend, he has drive and energy.......... etc etc and thats NOW who knows what he will be like in a few years.

    Henry will be overlooked for world player of the year if he stays with the gunners.(unless they win the chapions league of course)

    Cant wait for the Viera/Juve game.....:D

    If he were then his world cup place would obviously be taken by Crouch..who has many many similarities to Henry, such as the following:

    * Two arms
    * Two legs
    * Two eyes
    * .....um....that's about it really

    But at least Crouch gives us another option, that option being :

    * If, after 70 mins, we are behind and have not scored, then we can replace
    one of the strikers who we thought would score with one that we know will
    not score.
