I've having trouble trying to get DTS or DD when playing a dvd
on my Denon 2802.I get sound fine otherwise, only when I engage dvd.I'm connected with an optical digital lead to optical
one on the receiver, and seem to be following the instructions
correctly(and the lead works) but no sound.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I'm an a/v novice so I haven't got a clue btw.

Have you set the amp to AUTO so that it automatically locks onto whatever signal input you use? Press the INPUT MODE button on the front of the amp and select AUTO.

Have you assigned the Digital Input to the correct source? e.g OPTICAL 1 - DVD.

To make life easier you need to use the Onscreen Menu, you'll need to connect the amp via it's MONITOR OUT to your TV. Either using an S-Video cable or a standard Composite phono cable.
