help with yamaha ysp 900 set up

hi

i have just received a ysp 900 and i am struggling with setting it up

i am connecting it to a toshiba wlt66 32"lcd and a toshiba sd 360e dvd player. i have managed to get the dvd player working through the ysp but i have no joy yet with the tv. the tv is connected to the ysp via the component cables but there is no optical digial input on the back of the tv which is recommended in the manual is this why it isn't working

or do i have to change the settings on the tv or should i be connecting it to my ntl box?

any help will be greatly appreciated

Component cables will not carry any audio signals.

Does your Tosh TV have a tuner in it? If so do you use it?

Or do you ONLY watch TV from your NTL box?

hi, it has a digital tuner but it is not connected to an aerial so i only watch via NTL box.

Are you seeing the set up menu on your TV? And are you pressing TV on the remote control?

My set up is pretty similar to yours, only watch tv through ntl. The ysp is connected via RCA cables to my tv and I am not using the digital cable.

Ok

How I would do it......

DVD to TV via HDMI
DVD to Yammy via Coax

NTL to TV via RGB SCART
NTL to Yammy via phono OR TV Audio out to Yammy via phono.

Yammy to TV via composite.

hi, thanks for the tips but still no joy

i have tried all possible combinations and i am beginning to wonder if their is a problem with the connections on the tv, it's only a couple of months old so i will call toshiba customer support when they reopen to see if they can help, hopefully i just need to adjust the settings on th tv
